Gravel Grinder Start

Over 100 riders, on every sort of bike, took to the hills of Waterbury yesterday for the 2009 Gravel Grinder. We lucked out – the weather yesterday was absolutely perfect for riding.

Riders went out and did the first 25 mile loop, returned to the start and decided whether or not to tackle the optional loop. Many folks took the extra challenge, and were rewarded with a beautiful ride in the VT woods, a little bit of mud and a fun return along the river. Best of all, we were able to raise almost $1000 towards the Waterbury Trail system.

A big thank you to Pilgrim Partnership, for letting us use their parking lot. And thank you to Meeghan for running registration, Joe and Ian for driving the sag wagon, Bruno for running a fabulous aid station. Also thanks to Cris at Factotum for making great shirts. Thanks also to our ride leaders: Dave, Mags, Nat, Aaron, Zach, JayPro. Thank you to everyone who contributed for the pot luck, we had loads of tasty food to eat.
